Bingo's Back - Big Time

Bingo’s back – BIG TIME. And Angel Leisure is now a major player, online.

Angel Leisure is a forward-thinking company, based in the South of England. It’s been there, done that, and is now at the forefront of one of the country’s favourite pastimes.

The company is led by managing director John Angel, who’s no Johnny-come-lately. He’s an “older kid in town”, bringing years of experience in the industry to your computer screen. His line has always been bingo halls, and so going online is a natural progression.

John started off in the early sixties with the old-style, popular bingo halls when millions of people competed with each other to shout “HOUSE” on a weekend evening. The enterprising Mr Angel operated one of the first bingo halls in the South, at Fareham in Hampshire, and spread his wings to Wiltshire and other parts of the region.

In those days queues of devotees would snake around the chosen venue of the day, ready for their big night out. The lady of the house enjoyed nothing better than using her ballpoint to strike off her winning numbers, and yelling out that she’d won the jackpot.  In later years she’d use a fat marker, known as a “dabber”. She knew the bingo caller’s phrases off by heart. Legs Eleven, Droopy Drawers and Clickety Click  (11, 44 and 66) became just as familiar as the numbers themselves.

Now, although John still operates several old-style bingo halls, he’s moved with the times. And that means the lady of the house is joined by other family members on the computer, playing the online version.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are still an option, but nowadays you can join in the fun 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

So, how does it work? Simply log on to Angel-bingo.co.uk, follow the easy instructions, use your credit or debit card, and you’re playing. You can get started for as little as £10. Who knows? That tiny investment could scoop the jackpot! Online casino and poker are coming soon to Angel Leisure, so watch this space for all the details.

John is using all his experience to make his site welcoming and user-friendly. When you’ve been in the business since 1963 you make sure you’re surrounded by the best people in every department. Simon Manners, who heads up the online operation, used to work for John many years ago. When John decided to start up the new venture he set off to regain the talents of the man who could bring it all together. Have a look around the site, and check out the results of the reunion.

John and Simon would be delighted to hear your comments, whatever you think. They’re confident that you’ll love the site, and they’ll become “The Angels of the South”!
